Radical Independent Bookfair: 10 Days in October

After a short gap the ever excellent Radical Independent Bookfair (RIB) is back. Amongst the excellent materials on offer are plenty of free advice and material from the IWW.

The RIB is at the CCA, 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, G2 3JD

THE RIB is supporting the Document film festival on its 10 year anniversary! Yup that means a 10 day festival – so a 10 day book stall to coincide… new titles and a new set up.

A reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday 5th October at 8.30pm (doors open at 7.30pm) there’s a comedy night from the lovely people at Taking the Nith who’ve helped the IWW in campaigns. They have bought down the best talent from Edinburgh’s famous Stand Comedy club to perform down here in Dumfries, at Broons bar (upstairs). Tickets are £7 or £4 (for students at UWS and Glasgow University: Dumfries).

Then on 27th-31st October 2010: Radical Independent Bookfair at the CCA’s, Sauchiehaul Street, Glasgow at the Document film festival. It also has an exciting series of tea-time talks and presentations each day (5.30-6.30), including:

WED 27th: Bob Hamilton gives an introduction to the Common Good and its potential for revolutionising our communities.
THURS 28th: Hilary Horrocks, translator of the forthcoming AK Press title In The Crossfire, discusses the revolutionary struggle to free Vietnam from French colonial rule.
FRI 29th: Michael Albert continues his tour of the UK with a talk on ‘Life After Capitalism – vision and strategy for a participatory economy’ and ‘Organising – strategy for the anti-capitalist movement’
SAT 30th: AlaaIddin Ahmad Helou, a film-maker from the Document festival, will discuss his work which deals with issues within the Shatila refugee camp.

There will also be IWW literature available, and a few Wob members available if you have questions. More info here.

The ever busy Glasgow’s Radical Independent Book-Fair project have organised their next event for the new Glasgow Social Centre on Friday 11th + Saturday 12th December 2009

As usual there is FREE ENTRY with stalls, free food book & dvd launches

Radical Independent Bookfairs

There are two new Radical Independent Bookfairs announced for Glasgow. The first will take place over the 4 and a half days of
Document 7Human Rights Documentary Film Festival . It is held at the CCA – Sauchiehall Street – City Centre – Glasgow on Wednesday 21st to Sunday 25th October 2009: full Document programme here… http://www.docfilmfest.org.uk

The second will be at the two day bash at the new Glasgow Social Centre – 66 Osborne Street Glasgow – Friday 11th and Saturday 12th December, 2009. There will be guest stalls and surprise events!

There will be an IWW presence at both.

Be nice to organise a RIB for Dumfries sometime…. Anyone else interested?
