A reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday 5th October at 8.30pm (doors open at 7.30pm) there’s a comedy night from the lovely people at Taking the Nith who’ve helped the IWW in campaigns. They have bought down the best talent from Edinburgh’s famous Stand Comedy club to perform down here in Dumfries, at Broons bar (upstairs). Tickets are £7 or £4 (for students at UWS and Glasgow University: Dumfries).

Then on 27th-31st October 2010: Radical Independent Bookfair at the CCA’s, Sauchiehaul Street, Glasgow at the Document film festival. It also has an exciting series of tea-time talks and presentations each day (5.30-6.30), including:

WED 27th: Bob Hamilton gives an introduction to the Common Good and its potential for revolutionising our communities.
THURS 28th: Hilary Horrocks, translator of the forthcoming AK Press title In The Crossfire, discusses the revolutionary struggle to free Vietnam from French colonial rule.
FRI 29th: Michael Albert continues his tour of the UK with a talk on ‘Life After Capitalism – vision and strategy for a participatory economy’ and ‘Organising – strategy for the anti-capitalist movement’
SAT 30th: AlaaIddin Ahmad Helou, a film-maker from the Document festival, will discuss his work which deals with issues within the Shatila refugee camp.
